we’re all ‘artsy’

Just wanted to share a little bit of my heart <3

For some odd reason, and I don’t know if it’s because being an artist consumes my life, or if I was just born this way, but I truly feel that my strongest connection to the things that are out of this world is through art. And when I think of art I’m not really thinking of Monet or some oil paintings, but God’s art. I’m not what I would call “outdoorsy” but I’m in love with the sky and the view of the mountains in the distance. I’ve been in love with it since I moved to scenic Utah. He created this beautiful picture in front of us. Sounds that draw us in, movements that make us feel. What caused us to see beauty in that? God gave us minds and bodies and hearts that are capable of recreating His creative mind. Music is one of my most favorite things in the world, not just because it can be used to worship my Maker, but because it is a representation of the human creation of what God gave us to enjoy. Music changes my mood in an instant, and the first note of a beautiful song literally sends a chill up my spine. Only God can cause something like that. Dance has literally made me feel every emotion possible. To watch it, to do it, there’s nothing else that can connect me to something so beyond my mortal self. It’s making music visual, and it tells a story without words. Words which can be so deceitful and contradictory to God’s nature. It’s just hard for me to believe that science and evolution can be used as an explanation for the cause of an intelligent animal to feel so deeply and be so connected to art that had to begin somewhere. Humans aren’t capable of starting that. Everything that we have made started with something we didn’t.

Take some time to appreciate all the beauty around you, and support the arts. Art is what God gave us to reflect His nature, and we would be foolish to push that aside.

This amazing young woman is my beautiful granddaughter. So talented and also very sweet. Watching her grow into young womanhood has been an exciting journey for the entire family. I remember seeing her dance when she was about 5 years old. The vision of her last ballet performance a year ago at the age of 18 will remain in my memory as long as I live. She is one of God’s creations. May He hold her in the palm of His hands.
